I get the following error message when opening Partition Magic:

Now the error message dosen't really bother me as i'll just put on Xp again , so the real question is this.

I wanna carve up my drives and call the OS partition B and use the C drive for normal programs. Will this cause any problems will programs default to the C drive? or will they go to the B drive as this is where the OS will be based?

What's the minumium amount of Gig's I can give the B drive with the OS on?

60gig hard drive if it ,makes any difference.

mine used to do that as well, and it still works fine.

As for your second question, A and B are reserved for floppy drive. You have from C - Z to choose a drive letter.

If you install a program, some will let you choose where to install. The files can go anywhere you like.

the minimum you can have for a partition is probably about 1024 bytes. Not 100% sure though.

I know that B was reserved for the floppy but who has 2 floppy drives? Can I not use B at all?

The idea about making the C drive the program drive is not to confuse the missus/kids.

A and B are reserved for floppy drives. I've never seen an option to set a hard drive or cd-rom as B, but you could always label it as B.

Making your C drive for programs is fine. You can have windows installed on D:, and install say, Firefox to C:\Programs\Firefox. and it would run just the same as if it were on D:, but all files would be saved in the folder the file is located.
