-pops-
I do a fair amount of video work converting analogue to digital for eventual transfer to DVD. Previously I have used mainly Pinnacle Studio AV/DV and similar software/hardware software combos which convert analogue to AVI - with its huge file size and the necessity to further convert that to MPEG2 for DVD. This rendering takes many hours to carry our and uses enormous amounts of hard disc space for temporay storage.Well, the other day I was looking through the Scan (computer supplies) daily specials and saw the NorthQ Digital Video Converter NQ6600. This, it claimed, converts analogue to MPEG in real time and the data that goes into the computer does not need further file conversion (although it does need manipulation to get it into a state suitable for DVD).I bought one.It is an excellent bit of hardware. The time taken to produced a DVD from video tape is a fraction of what it used to be with the other systems I have used. The converter comes with drivers and its own (basic) processing system but also with Intervideo WinDVD Creator 2 which is a comprehensive digital editing suite.I am VERY impressed with the setup that this NorthQ has given me. Still getting to grips with the WinDVD but have already made some very acceptable discs :) If you're interested, look it up at http://www.northq.com/products/tvvideo/nq6600.htmlOne important point, though: Don't install according to the booklet provided with the item. Download a new manual from the website and follow the procedure in there.
