mo1973 Posted November 9, 2004 Report Share Posted November 9, 2004 :( I start my computer, it goes to the boot screen and after about ten seconds this appears:xmnt2002 not foundautochk not foundor something like it, because the computer restarts right away. then it does the same thing all over. after a few times I pressed F8 and got to the menu that gives you the choice to either start normal, start in safe mode, or start with last known working configuration. I tried them all, but none works. all the choices do the same, goes to boot screen, flashes blue screen, and restarts. i inserted the windows cd in the drive, but won't read from it, same with floppy. is there another way to start it that might work? thanks :huh: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

mo1973 Posted November 9, 2004 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2004 Yes, I installed SP2 and I did part with Linux using partition magic. I've been so fustrated with it that I forgot that I could go to the bios by pressing F1 during boot, so I did, and then I changed the settings there. The problem is that I didn't have a boot floppy so I used the windows disc that came with my laptop. Well, to make a story short, I ended up formatting the whole drive. Scarecrow Man Posted November 10, 2004 Report Share Posted November 10, 2004 Install Windows first, then install Linux into a seperate partition. Some will allow you to choose how to make the partition. Make sure you leave the windows one alone and do whatever you want with the rest of it. Make your windows partition as big as you want and leave about 10-20GB for Linux and have it format that 20GB as it sees fit.It should install GRUB or LILO depeding on the distrobution you have.
