Michelle
I'm trying to find the thread re: AVG, where by editing registry you can put 3 options in to get better connectivity for updating avg. But everry time I go to perform search it requests me to log in (which I am). I've tried logging out and in but still get the same loop. Any offers? Any offers?I'm afraid that is a bug in the skin we are using, if you were doing a search on AVG... it won't work because it is only three characters.. to do a search you must use more than three characters. Trouble is the skin won't give you the correct error message... it just thinks you're not logged in, even when you are!
djohn
A quick way of gaining access to the three AVG update sites is as follows. [similar to expertec's link].Left click your mouse and drag over the text between the dotted lines below to highlight, right click and choose copy.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[sERVER_NAME]1=free.grisoft.cz2=ftp.grisoft.com3=www.grisoft.com[sERVER_URL]1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/Actual URL=3----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Minimise windowsforum to the taskbar.Left click on your "My Computer" Icon then the C: drive/Program files/Grisoft folder. Left click on the folder to open it and look for this URL file. [image of file attached below]Left click to open it and delete the inf. file inside.Right click your mouse and choose "paste". The three files from above will appear. Move up to the toolbar, left click on file and save. [The file will save without offering you any choices].Back your way out to the desktop, right click on the AVG Icon in your notification area of taskbar [system tray] click on exit to close AVG. Confirm when the message appears on screen.Go to Start/All programs and scroll up to the AVG Icon, click on it to activate again and you will now have the three options to choose from in the drop down menu of AVG update.
