achilllad Posted November 16, 2004 Report Share Posted November 16, 2004 I want to update XP Home SP1 before installing SP2 CD but Windows Update fails because says ActiveX settings preventing page opening. Security and Trusted sites are enabled. No KB article for 0x8DDD0004 on MS support or MS forums and using Hijackthis to ensure cleaned up (getting there thanks to kind user at Tom Coyote!).Has anyone any idea what might be going on - could be simple but I've searched tons of posts + sites and not found explanation let alone solution/way round etc.Any help much appreciatedAchilllad Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted November 16, 2004 Report Share Posted November 16, 2004 Have you tried installing from the SP2 CD without going through the procedure you are carrying out?SP2, I believe, contains all XP updates including SP1. I have just installed Windows XP with integrated SP2 on a new system and Windows Update informs me that there are no critical updates available at the moment. Acieus Posted February 17, 2006 Report Share Posted February 17, 2006 I have the same problem - have upgraded to SP2 and the problem still exists. Any other ideas?
