zachsdad99
Can someone tell me anything about "regscan23.exe". It was in my Windows/System32 folder and was causing my computer to upload, to who knows where, massive amounts of info everytime I logged onto the internet. After deleting this program, the problem stopped. I have run virus programs and spyware programs many times. There seems to be no bad effects from removing this program. Was just wondering if it was a good file that had become corrupted ora trash file that had infiltrated my anti-virus software.LG
expertec
If you mean regscan32 and not 23, it is a virus.See http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyc...me=WORM_RBOT.KE for more information on what it does. :o What AV software are you using? zachsdad99
It is actually "regscan23.exe" not 32. I use Nortons and keep it updated.
expertec
Well there aren't any google results for it  Is the file permanently deleted, or is it in the recycle bin? Also, could you post a Hijackthis log, see the pinned topics in this section of the board: http://www.windowsforum.org/forum/index.php?showforum=
zachsdad99
It is permanently deleted. here is the "hijackthis" log you asked for.I noticed this morning that I agan had a runaway (uploads large amounts of info) when I connected with the internet. This happens even tho no browser or email program is running. after a little research and head scratching i stopped my "Callwave" program from running and the runaway stopped. I manually restarted the Callwave program and all seems to be fine again, but I wonder what is going on.Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2Scan saved at 12:37:30 PM, on 11/17/2004Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)Running processes:C:\WINNEW\System32\smss.exeC:\WINNEW\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINNEW\system32\services.exeC:\WINNEW\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINNEW\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINNEW\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINNEW\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\WINNEW\System32\CTsvcCDA.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\DJSNETCN.exeC:\WINNEW\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exeC:\WINNEW\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mm_tray.exeC:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mmtask.exeC:\PROGRA~1\DAP\DAP.EXEC:\WINNEW\SYSTEM32\USRmlnkA.exeC:\WINNEW\SYSTEM32\USRshutA.exeC:\WINNEW\SYSTEM32\USRmlnkA.exeC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\Program Files\MSN Apps\Updater\01.02.3000.1001\en-us\msnappau.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\CallWave\IAM.exeC:\unzipped\hijackthis\HijackThis.exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://start.earthlink.netR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.earthlink.net/partner/more/msie...ton/search.htmlR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://start.earthlink.net/AL/SearchR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.earthlink.net/partner/more/msie...ton/search.htmlR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://start.earthlink.netR0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://start.earthlink.net/AL/SearchR3 - URLSearchHook: SrchHook Class - {44F9B173-041C-4825-A9B9-D914BD9DCBB3} - C:\Program Files\EarthLink TotalAccess\ElnIE.dllR3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)O2 - BHO: DAPBHO Class - {0096CC0A-623C-4829-AD9C-19AF0DC9D8FE} - C:\Program Files\DAP\DAPIEBar.dllO2 - BHO: EarthLink Popup Blocker - {4B5F2E08-6F39-479a-B547-B2026E4C7EDF} - C:\Program Files\EarthLink TotalAccess\PnEL.dllO2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dllO2 - BHO: ST - {9394EDE7-C8B5-483E-8773-474BF36AF6E4} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\ST\01.02.3000.1002\en-xu\stmain.dllO2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar1.dllO2 - BHO: MSNToolBandBHO - {BDBD1DAD-C946-4A17-ADC1-64B5B4FF55D0} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\MSN Toolbar\01.02.3000.1001\en-us\msntb.dllO2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dllO3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dllO3 - Toolbar: MSN - {BDAD1DAD-C946-4A17-ADC1-64B5B4FF55D0} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\MSN Toolbar\01.02.3000.1001\en-us\msntb.dllO3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar1.dllO3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINNEW\System32\msdxm.ocxO3 - Toolbar: EarthLink Toolbar - {D7F30B62-8269-41AF-9539-B2697FA7D77E} - C:\Program Files\EarthLink TotalAccess\PnEL.dllO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTStartup] C:\Program Files\Creative\Splash Screen\CTEaxSpl.EXE /runO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MMTray] C:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mm_tray.exeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mmtask] C:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mmtask.exeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DownloadAccelerator] C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\DAP.EXE /STARTUPO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Office] svxhost.exeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uSRpdA] C:\WINNEW\SYSTEM32\USRmlnkA.exe RunServices \Device\3cpipe-USRpdAO4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [DJSNetCN] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\DJSNETCN.exeO4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Office] svxhost.exeO4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [TCP/IP Socket Manager] devldr.exeO4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [spybotSnD] "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe" /autocheckO4 - HKCU\..\Run: [M
