Can someone tell me anything about "regscan23.exe". It was in my Windows/System32 folder and was causing my computer to upload, to who knows where, massive amounts of info everytime I logged onto the internet. After deleting this program, the problem stopped. I have run virus programs and spyware programs many times. There seems to be no bad effects from removing this program. Was just wondering if it was a good file that had become corrupted ora trash file that had infiltrated my anti-virus software.

If you mean regscan32 and not 23, it is a virus.

It is actually "regscan23.exe" not 32. I use Nortons and keep it updated.

Is the file permanently deleted, or is it in the recycle bin?

It is permanently deleted. here is the "hijackthis" log you asked for.

I noticed this morning that I agan had a runaway (uploads large amounts of info) when I connected with the internet. This happens even tho no browser or email program is running. after a little research and head scratching i stopped my "Callwave" program from running and the runaway stopped. I manually restarted the Callwave program and all seems to be fine again, but I wonder what is going on.
