My sister wants to get herself a Digital radio (about which I know nothing ! ).

Her simple requirements are :-

Mains + battery

plus FM ( as not all are ?)

A reasonable number of station presets for Digital and FM separately (6+)

Good quality speaker output

Anyone got any advice - it has to be not too expensive !

Can she receive digital radio in her area? Lots of places, apparently, are still unable to pick up the signal even though it is supposed to be available.

As to cost, I don't think any of them fit the description of cheap. I can't see why this is as the electronic components don't look anything unusual.

I have a Goodmans GPS 280 DAB radio with FM and a CD player.

Even though I live quite close to the DAB relay station, the reception is very dependent on the positioning of the aerial and the proximity of people. Both produce the effect of the broadcast being made under water.

On the other hand, the FM reception is good but, I could have saved myself more than £100 if I only wanted an FM radio with, or without, a CD player.

I wouldn't buy another.
