micken
I'm a W2K fan for my PCs at home and have no real knowledge of XP, although I do use it at work. My wife is due to order a new laptop for use at work/home, mostly word, excel & e mail. Any relative pros/cons, benefits etc for either version of XP OS?Thanks in anticipation. She's eager to put the order in and I'm envious as hell
-pops-
I have both Home and Pro. In day to day use, there is nothing to choose between them. The Pro version claims to have better this and that (perhaps the other) but, I doubt if the general user will find these important.Assuming the Home version is a several ££££ or $$$$ cheaper, I would go for that.Note that before SP2 the most striking difference between the two versions was the startup screens. Even that has gone now :)
madboy33
if she is going to use it for work then go for pro as you can encrypt files
micken
Thanks '-pops-'.Thanks 'madboy33', encryption may well be a significant factor since there will be sensitive data on there.
-pops-
If there is anything "sensitive" then go for Pro.
