Somehow I have prevented any entries showing under My Recent Documents in Wndows XP Home. The heading is there on the start menu & I have ticked the relevant box reached from Properties>Customize>Advanced. But when I click to call up the docs, the word "empty" comes up. Can anyone help me to restore this please ? I have a feeling a registry entry needs changing but need help ! Thanks

Well, I don't know exactly what the problem you are having is, but this is one thing to check out: (for WinXP, I do not know about other Win versions):

Start > Run > gpedit.msc

A window will appear, If it is not expanded, expand "Local Computer Policy" on the lefthand menu. Then expand "User Configuration" and double-click the "Start Menu and Task Bar" folder. So the path is:

Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Start Menu and Task Bar

You will see a large list of options, that say either "Enabled" "Disabled" or "Not Configured." What you are probably looking for is the entry that reads: "Do not keep history of recently opened documents." What you will want to try is setting it to Disabled (its a double negative... thumbs up to windows  ) If that does not work try putting it on Enabled. I don't know if this will fix your problem, but it is worth a try.

As always make a system restore before attempting this, and also write down every step you take so that you can backtrack and change anything you change in the future.
