homecomputeraid
Let the Cable Modem boot first. After you see a green Cable light on the Cable Modem (depending on your model), boot your PC. If the PC's always on, you'll have to release/renew the IP Address. To do that, go to Start, type cmd, and hit Enter. In the Command window that opens, type ipconfig /release, or ipconfig /release all (you can just select the NIC you use to connect to the Internet if you know which adapter number that is, by typing ipconfig /release 1, or whatever adapter number's applicable). Then type ipconfig /renew. This will release any old ipconfiguration, and pick up a new address from your Cable Modem.Hope this answers your question! :)Do you have a software firewall on the computer? You can find some in the forum, or go to my site, http://www.homecomputeraid.com/firewalls.html for free ones.
scuzzman
As stated by HCA correct powercycling will solve your problem. When everything is off, turn on the modem. After you have a solid DSL/Ready/Internet light, bring up your router then computer.
