Error Message (777)

I am unable to get rid of this message. I've tried just about all I can and it still pops up when I go to connect to the internet. I don't think I have the ability to install the drivers for the modem as I did not get anything when purchasing my computer (it's a Smart Link 56K Modem). I had anouther provider on this computer and deleted it thinking it was dialing that one as well but that did nothing. I also have 2 connections under LAN or High-Speed Internet: 1394 Connection and Local Area Connection. The last is listed as Network cable unplugged so I don't think it's causing a problem. 1394 is listed as Connected, Firewalled. I've tried disabling this but the error still occurs.

Besides the four solutions I've found in searching the internet, is there anything else I can try? Currently, I only have those LAN connections and the one Dial-up connection I'm trying to get to work. The other has been deleted until I return to my apartment for school.
