Scarecrow Man
So I got a call from someone saying when they start thier computer, there is no video.OK. Easy enough, it's probably a PCI card with the AGP set as default in bios right? Well, yes but thats not it....Windows - System ErrorMicrosoft Windows detected and recovered from a device failure. Please save your work and reboot to restore full functionality. So I reboot, same thing comes up. Looks OK while it loads, but when it comes to the logon screen it is gone again.Has the video card bit the dust?EDIT: Safe mode seems fine... drivers? Cpt James T. Kirk
kinda sounds like it crapped if you have the newest drivers and all and still have the prob. but then again sometimes the newest drivers are not the best. and the one that came with the card is better even if its older. i had a similar thing happen to me with a nvidia card i have. but now that i have my new os i got from newegg it had the right driver allready on there and loaded it for me automatically when i installed the os.as cheap as some of the smaller cards are what would it hurt to try a new one, or maybe just swap out another card to check that fact. then you would know for sure. Scarecrow Man
Thanks for your reply Kirk, and yes I've had similar problems before as well where the updated driver causes the video card to not work at all. This seems to have been a hardware issue, I removed, dusted and re installed the card and everything is fine and dandy at 1024x768 32bit colour now.Very odd...............................................
