punkboii
hey guys, i've just reinstalled windows due to it being slow and in need of a clean up! i first installed red hat 10.0 on the first 2 partitions, then created a 3rd partition for windows sp2. i got it on anti-virus and all the rest, and now it hardly runs, it literally takes 20mins to boot up fully and things such as firefox for internet browsing can take upto 5 mins to load. its a 2.1ghz athlon so i know it shouldn't be doing this. anybody got any ideas!?thanks :D
Redhat
How much memory is in the system? And I don't quite know watcha mean by "Redhat 10.0".. do you mean RHEL? Or Redhat 9.0? Welcome to windows forum :D
homecomputeraid
There are some Linux guru's on here, and I'm not one of them, but isn't it good to install the "other" OS first, (in this case Windows), then load Linux? Not sure it would make any difference in performance, but that's the way I've always done it.You might try Ubuntu Linux. Redhat recommended it and I like it a lot. It's completely free. scuzzman
9.0 was the last Redhat release before Fedora Core and RHEL. You should also know it is very old. If you want a good up to date distro, download and install Ubuntu. As for install, yes, always install Windows before any other OS. This is because Windows assumes it's the only OS on the computer, and will overwrite the boot sector.
