Wireless Network Blocked

Running XP w/wireless network, type D-link.

At several instances my network connection is blocked. The blocking is total, and restart of XP is NOT sufficient, I have to use the system recovery procedure using an "earlier" date for recovery.

It seems to me that the problem occures if the Medai player is started, but I'm not sure.

Anybody have a clue??

Can you describe your network topologya little more? Is it just one computer or laptop connected wirelessly to the router?

Do you use any antivirus or spyware removal/protection software?

The configuration is as follows:

2 computers wireless connected to a D-link type DI-624, however, I'm Quite sure that it is a computer problem.

When I logg the traffic from the affected computer, it seems like it keeps sending, but do not receive eanything. The second PC is up running without problems.

All kinds of "network" commands from the sick PC is not working.

i.e. the ping command.

Software:

XPSP2-Home, Panda platinum, spysweeper.

Firewalls activated, tryed to turn them off, but did not help.

If you go to Start->Control Panel->Network & Internet Connections->Network Connections

You should se "Wireless Connection" - right click it, and select "View Available Wireless Networks"

Is the network listed there?

Yes!

The PC also informs me that I'm connected to the network, but I'm not,

I cant see eanything on the network, and the network cant see me.

Did it work at one time, then stop? Did you make any changes to any security settings on the Router or the PC that could have caused this behavior? Any changes to the wireless settings?

Please check this:

let us know the following information:

• The IP Address of your router
  
• The output of "ipconfig /all"
  • To do this, go to Start, select "Run"
    
  • Type in

    cmd

    
    

  • You'll some to a prompt that looks similar (not exaclty) to this:
    

    C:\Documents and Settings\User\>

    
    

  • Type this in:

    ipconfig /all > C:\output.txt

    
    

  • Now paste the contents of C:\output.txt in here, make sure to enclose it inside of this:
