superbnerd
I am trying to use samba to remotely shutdown windows clients. It works using the "net rpc shutdown" command but only when a user is logged in. When no one is logged in it returns a net.rpc.c error. Does any one know how to use samba's net command to remotely shtdown a xp system?
homecomputeraid
Hi Superbnerd,I'm not familiar with Linux enough to know how to make it work. I'm going to search around the Internet though. It seems a little disheartening that you can do this even if a user's logged in! Do you have to authenticate to the Windows machine somehow, or is this a Windows flaw (there are so few you know! ). :)
scuzzman
HCA: Yes, you do authenticate. But AFAIK, this is not possible to do because the network connections (this includes sharing) aren't prepared until someone logs in.
