Firefox

I know very little about Firefox, except that as with others I have tried it and did not get on with it. Some people like it and some don't, it's the same with IE. In the very unlikely event that Firefox became equally or even almost equally as popular as IE, I have no doubt that it would receive it's fair share of attacks. If this occurred I have no doubt that their responses would also slow down. What we don't know, is the proportion of staff dealing with these attacks at both company's, compared with the number of users, and the number of attacks. I have no doubt however that the suppliers of Firefox would find it equally as difficult to respond quickly to such attacks as do Microsoft at present. Of course all this is hypothetical at present, and we will have to see how things progress in the future.

i find myself just going back to IE. ive tried to make Firefox look as much like my IE as poss but i still myself on some rare occasions having to use IE as firefox does not work well with that site , The Jobcentre Plus site being one.

As far as being ignorant and sticking with IE, one advantage for us when these people stick with crap (I mean IE) is that the IE marketshare remains stronger. Which means that hackers and worm writers will continue to target IE rather than Mozilla. Which means if you're ignorant (as mentioned before), you'll stick with IE. :-D

Firefox has a few features (e.g. tabbed browsing), and lots of plug-ins (e.g. the spell-checker) that make it worth (for me) to have it as the browser of choice for most of my daily usage. I still need IE for WindowsUpdate and other IE-only sites.

FF also takes a few seconds longer to load initially but the tabbed browings experience makes it worthwhile.

P.S. I do not hate Bill Gates. I actually once went to have dinner at a friend's restaurant after he called me to say that Bill Gates was there. (But Bill was already gone by the time I arrived there...)

P.P.S. (But I had a table next to Mick Jagger at the same restaurant about a week later.)

You are insulting people who use IE and OE by calling them ignorant. MILLIONS of satisfied people use these programs, and are perfectly happy with them. A lesser number of people use alternatives, and the LAST thing that I would do is to call them ignorant. It all boils down to personal choice, and preferences. It would be a very much poorer world if everyone had exactly the same preference for every product on earth. I suppose that I am also ignorant for choosing the clothes that I wear if they differ to your choice, or the food that I choose to eat because you do not happen to like it. Let's have a debate and agree to differ, not insult people who have a different opinion. If you choose Firefox or any other alternative so be it, you are NOT ignorant for doing so, neither are the millions of users of IE and OE ignorant. I would ask you to withdraw that statement please.

Even as a very avid FF supporter, I'm going to have to agree with andsome on this one. People do choose to use IE/OE for a variety of reasons, and even I must use IE to access my digital university (the pages are not W3C compliant), but I would hardly call myself ignorant when it comes to most anything that has to do with computers, or most technology in general.

Thank you for your support on this matter. As far as I am concerned we are here to enjoy the forum, have a joke, help each other, and from time to time have a debate, and disagree with each other. All this can happily be done without calling those who disagree with you ignorant. The world is a far better place with having different opinions and choices.
