This is a good chance to ask advice about Crap Cleaner. I have been a fan ever since I read about the program on here. There is however one thing that really annoys me. Soon after installing it all my favourite website icons turned into a large blue 'E'. They all lost their distinctive look. Now that I am using a fresh installation of Windows, I would like to reinstall Crap Cleaner, but would appreciate it if

someone could tell me what option has to be clicked or indeed unclicked so that my icons are NOT changed again.

Question: if you clear the IE cache from IE (Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Files), does it also happen? Or only with CC?

If so, then uncheck Temporary Internet Files under Internet Explorer in Ccleaner.

Notice the highlighted line? This is not a good thing - Ccleaner now (optionally) installs the bloody Yahoo! toolbar (for IE only). Don't forget to uncheck the last option during the install process.

There is a lot of ranting going on over at the Ccleaner forum about this addition, but I personally think that somehow or other the developer has to be paid for this excellent and free product.

[EDIT] P.S. I just read in the Ccleaner announcements forum that the final version of 1.27 will have several different installers, i.e. one without the toolbar. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll watch out. I hate anything to do with Yahoo. When my son was on his extended Asian holiday, he asked me to install yahoo messenger. It was a pain in the ass, and took a lot of getting rid of completely.

I got a message that I was using the latest version.
