Just increased my download speed by 1100 kps

This worked for me and I cannot guarantee it will for you, but it is worth a try. It is also only recommended for those on cable or DSL. There are other settings for dial up but I don't know what they are.

Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/default.asp and run a test by clicking measure download speed then run bandwidth test.

Remember the number....it will be in terms of kilobytes per second.

Now go to www.dslreports.com/drtcp and download Dr. TCP

Open Dr TCP (drtcp021.exe). Mark down the settings you see in all the boxes in case you have to change back to them later.

Now:

1. Set the Tcp receive windows setting to between 32768 and 65536. I used 65536

2. Set the Path MTU Discovery and Windows Scaling to yes

3. Black Hole Detection and Time Stamping should be no

4. Set Max Duplicate ACK's to 6

5. Set Selective ACK's to yes

6. Set TTL to 64

7. Set MTU to 1500

Hit OK and reboot.

Go back to http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/default.asp and run a new test. Your results should be higher, meaning you will have faster downloads.. I am at 3900 kilobytes per second. I was at 2800 kps prior to the test.
