Jayno
Can anyone help. I subscribe to a stocks and shares website - ADVFN.co.uk - and use their streaming page to see live share price changes. This has worked fine for years. Recently I had a trojan virus, now solved by Nellie from WF, but after then I installed 2005 Norton Systemworks, Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall. Nothing changed for a few days, then yesterday I found I couldn't access the ADVFN streaming page. I am getting an empty window on the ADVFN site, except for a small red cross in the top left corner and this message below the bottom left corner of the window:exception: netscape.javascript.JSException: Unknown nameAny ideas what this is? Is it a windows security setting, a Java problem, a virus or a Norton related thing? And if you know, can you advise me what to do to resolve it?Thanks gangJayno :(

Jayno
NellieIt is sun java. I have actually got rid of the JSException message (after doing some updates to the website settings with the help of ADVFN's techie people, but I am still having problems opening the streaming page. Sometimes, if I wait for about two minutes it will manage to move through the applets stages and open alright, other times it gets stuck, and often it throws up a Windows message saying that an error has occured with Internet Explorer and windows needs to close it. This error window gives me an option to send a report to Microsoft, which I attempted to do. I got an immediate auto-reponse telling me this problem could not be resolved and that I might have to uninstall and reinstall IE. Yoiks, I don't fancy that.Anyway, I went back to the ADVFN website and ran through a browser test they have in their Help section. It passed everything except one test, where it gave me this explanation message: "Read/Write to connection B Firewall/Proxy". Thinking this meant my newly installed Norton Personal Firewall was therefore the problem, I temporarily disabled it, but the streaming page still wouldn't open. I also went into my Security settings but all the Java and Active X settings are on "allow" so I can't figure what's going on here. Can you?Jayno
nellie2
In my security settings, scripting of java applets is set to allow!

nellie2
I'm not quite sure how to resolve this one Jayno, I've had a look at the Java Forums and they seem to think the bug is fixed. see here. The only think I can suggest is that you use an alternative browser for accessing sites where you recieve this error. :(
Jayno
OK NellieThanks for trying for me. I'll have to talk to ADVFN again I think, because I have tried the alternative browser route (Firefox) and the same thing occured.I'll let you know what it was if I ever get to the bottom of itJayno
