In my Favorites, most of the bookmarked sites have their own icons, that is, until recenlty. Something happened, and the icons turned into the usual baby-blue IE icons.

I understand this is no big deal, :D no loss of functionality, but it would be educational to know what happened and how to get them back ( visiting the sites does not reclaim the icons).

Never noticed this before but, on checking in IE (which I don't use very much) on my main machine, all the icons are the blue colour that you mention. The folder contents are likewise, blue.

In Firefox, of about 50 - 60 icons, three are fancy. The others are just plain blue.

Precise hit with the above URL. It says:

"Favicons are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files, but FavOrg preserves them. "

Sure enough, my browser is set to empty the Temp IE cache upon being closed, and recently I closed the bowser after keeping it up for probably months.

Thanks a lot. That resolves it.

It does help a bit to locate links if you have a large bookmarks collection.

Remember that you can place your bookmarks/favorites in their own folders within the file. This helps enormously in keeping things tidy and in order.

I have done just that. I have 148 KB, 5.12 MB on disk (why the difference?) of 1,323 favorites in 38 folders, 10 forum links outside, and 1 desktop.ini(what do I need this for?).

For the forum links I rely on the icons. To find other URLs I use partial name search. Otherwise it would take minutes to find something.

Is there a Favorites sharing thread/storage here?
