Samba and XP don't like each other

I have one PC running XP Home SP2 (called auroa2) and the another running Debian testing (called titan) and Samba. There are a couple of other PC on the network but I am not interested in there interaction at this time. All PC's belong to the workgroup "home" and obtain IP's from IPCop firewall, they can all ping each other and can reach the internet without a problem.

If I start Samba on "titan", I can not browse the network on "auroa2", disable samba and I can browse the network

With Samba running on the "titan" I can do "smb://auroa2/data" and this gives me access to the shared folder called data on the auroa2 and I can swop files.

With Samba running, I can use the find computer on auroa2 and it will find "titan" but I can't see anything on titan.

I have played with switching the XP firewall on and off which makes no differences, I have played with the encrypted\plain password on the XP box that makes no difference.

Any pointer please

Regards

Tim
