ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I just finished installing WinXP-SP2 (Japanese version) on a friend's computer. When the install was complete, the desktop was perfectly empty. So was the systray.I managed to get some of the essentials onto the desktop (TweakUI), but I wave no idea how to get the missing items, such as volume control, into the systray.I later installed M-Audio Audiophile USB, and we can get sound now. But the Sound Control in Control Panel now only contains M-Audio controls.Any advice on how to get Volume Control into the systray?
-pops-
I would suggest that there is something fundamentally wrong with the installation and that these missing items are only part of what could be a much bigger problem. As the install is new, how about doing it afresh - with a re-format of the drive. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I actually installed Windows yesterday; I just added some finishing touches today. Meanwhile my friend has already installed lots of software - Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc. - so it will be additional work.On the other hand, no real work has been done yet, so a complete re-install may be the safest bet. I'll have a talk with my friend...
andsome
If it is still the same after pops suggestion. Click Start/Control Panel/Sounds speech and audio devices/Sounds speech and audio devices/ Then put a tick in the box that says place volume icon on the task bar.Yes you do have to click Sounds speech and audio devices twice in different windows.
