Masuba
Hello everyone.I have a question about the Safe Boot mode in Win ME and Win XP. I have been informed that it is not possible to install or uninstall in Safe Boot mode. However, I was apparently able to uninstall a program by using the Add or Remove Programs tool found in the Control Panel. The person who informed me that it should be impossible to do this in Safe Boot mode has WinXP, I have WinME.I was not able to access the Control panel at all via the Start menu. Every time I would try to do this there was a message saying that explorer has caused an error in an unknown location. I managed to open the Control panel through the My computer icon on the desktop and removed the program that apparently caused the computer to tilt directly after starting the computer (and after Windows had loaded). Removing the program solved the problem but I still don't understand how I was able to run the uninstall program in Safe mode. I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me about this issue. How is it possible to uninstall in Safe mode in ME while it is not possible in XP?
Scarecrow Man
Safe mode does not load all the device drivers and services of a computer. It only loads the very basic necessities for windows to run. The actual uninstall of a program depends on the program itself. If it is able to run in such a minimal environment, then it will. If it requires all the extras that are not available in safe mode, you may get an error.
