benb Posted March 3, 2005 Report Share Posted March 3, 2005 I just installed SuSe Linux 9.1 and I realized it overwrote my MBR! I have looked here but I don't want to have to go through all that stuff. Is there a Windows command prompt command that will give XP the ability to boot? I don't care if it blocks SuSe (I didn't like it), all I want is my Windows back? Does anyone know how write the MBR in favor of Windows?PS: I do not a have bootloader such as GRUB or Lilo installed. benb Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Share Posted March 3, 2005 Same error.... I tried Googling it and came up with this although the copying from the CD to the hard drive didn't work.. The first file i386\ntldr worked, but the second, ntdetect.com didn't. I wasn't able to find ntdetect.com, probably simply because I was in the wrong folder.Edit: I was able to get the ntdetect.com onto the main HD, but it still didn't work.
