gman697 Posted March 5, 2005 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 A friend recently bought a Compaq PC and whenever he tried to connect to the internet using a dial up modem, it would dial out but it wouldnt connect and you wouldnt hear no sounds like it was trying to connect so we thought it was a faulty modem. scuzzman Posted March 6, 2005 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 Are you doing this on the same jack? Try a different jack first. If that doesn't work, unplug all the phones in your house and try again (could be a phone conflicting with it - had it happen before). Then, call the phone company, clearly a line problem.
