IE6 - strange codes appearing in web pages

I've recently upgraded to SP2 & IE has started displaying some strange codes in certain web pages. For example:

The broker issued & #8220;neutral& #8221; advice ...

(I've had to insert a space after the & to force it to display in this posting)

My initial suspicion was the encoding settings, but I've played around with these & not been able to fix the problem.

I'd be most grateful for some assistance, please !!

Boris, I can't understand why that link should take you to a different place from where it takes me, but here's how to navigate to that page.

Go to http://www.fool.co.uk

In the box labelled "Quotes" enter KGF & click Go.

Click on the news headline "Broker tips: Easter caution for Kingfisher"

This should take you to the page in question.

LONDON (ShareCast) - JP Morgan offered investors a preview of what to expect from electrical retailer Kingfisher’s full year figures next week, advising a cautious stance.

The broker issued “neutral” advice, saying that while it expects results to be in line with expectations it is remaining cautious over pre-Easter trading concerns and possible weakness at its Castorama operation in France.

JP Morgan has placed a 310p price target on Kingfisher and voiced concerns that an early Easter in the UK, coupled with cautious consumers, could slow like for like sales in the crucial first quarter.

JP Morgan also put oil companies under the microscope after raising its 2005 crude price forecast by about $6 to $45 and EPS forecasts on stocks.

The broker said it likes the sector’s long-term outlook but warned that the recent rally in oil prices has pushed the commodity and its stocks ahead of themselves, leaving near term risks on the downside. Its top UK pick is BG Group.

Reuters has been downgraded to “neutral” from “buy” at UBS, as the Swiss broker said there were few catalysts in the short term to push the shares higher as it stick with its 475p per share price target.

Panmure Gordon stuck with its “buy” stance on tour operator First Choice Holidays after the group released a trading statement, saying it was confident of meeting full year expectations.

Panmure Gordon also kept its “buy” stance on Intercontinental Hotels and 740p price target after the hotel giant announced plans to return a further £1bn to shareholders after selling more hotels.

They put the & right into the code, which would read like "The Broker Issued & neutral & advice, saying that while it expects ...."

Looks like a code error to me, probably the person did some porr cutting/pasting or something, & is the HTML code for the "&" because you are not technically supposed to type shift keys (e.g. you press shift and 5 to get %) into the code. As for the #8220 stuff, those are left and right quotation marks, though they are incorrectly typed, they should be & #8220 (no space) so it would be
