2mb/s Trouble

ok...here we go...

As alot of you may well know, about 2/3 weeks ago BT launched an advertising campaign advertising 2mb/s broadband.

Since i had phoned them up about a week before and said that i wish to have my MAC code so i could move to AOL, They said that as soon as the new 2MB service was advertised (same price 4 times the speed) i could phone up and they would switch me over to it.

So i phoned etc and i was supposed to be upgraded that following Monday.

Since that upgrade i had been having some real problems, My downloads would be starting at about 180kb/s and within about 30 - 40 seconds they would fall to about 30- 40 kb/s and eventually the "Mb downloaded" would stop and i would get a windows error message (and error tone) saying,

could not download [file] from

To [c:/doc....../desktop]

So...next was BT help desk, phoned them, thy seemed to not have a clue and they wanted me to download the file from

[url=http://www.btyahoo.com/speedtest]http://www.btyahoo.com/speedtest

All this did was prove to them what i had been saying, Their only answer to this was to rune virus ad ware and spy ware scans on all the computers on the net-work, and if this didn’t work they would pass me over to the Faults team.... :mellow:

soo...they did that and all the line tests came up clean and everything was normal as far as they could see...

Their next idea was to send out an engineer, he said that there was a problem with the way my micro filters were arranged, i had too much stuff before the filter, so he fixed that and because he legally wasn’t allowed to touch my computer, use line testing devices at the point where the phone line (ADSL signal) enters my router) (belkin),

All that came up saying that everything is working fine and there is a good signal getting through...He also said that if the were any more problems that it must be software related.

There are still the exact same problems... :angry:

So, taking his advice about software I "reformatted" my router (restored factory setting) and re-entered my details...but...that hasn’t made a difference....

Now I have absolutely no idea what to do....

Subjections and help appreciated

Thanks,

Andy 2004
