benb Posted March 25, 2005 Report Share Posted March 25, 2005 I know this is a very newb question :blush: Does anyone know the command to re-install all the main XP files. I was trying to do the Longhorn Transformation Pack but when I rebooted it was complaining that theres not winlogon.exe, no services.exe, and no lsass.exe. It was also saying that msgina.dll could not be found. I have the XP disc (full version, not a restore thing) and all I need is the command that re-installs all Windows files. benb Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Share Posted March 26, 2005 I applogize for not making myself clearer :blush: I am not able to boot into Windows. When I try to load XP it complains (see first post). I cant even boot into Safe Mode. But when I'm in the XP command prompt Recovery Console it says it doesn't understand sfc or sfc /scannow. benb Posted March 26, 2005 Author Report Share Posted March 26, 2005 Well this is a little embarrassing. The answer was right in front of my face! I just had to choose "To setup Windows press enter" instead of "Press R to enter a Recovery console" After doing that it found my XP installation I could press "R" to repair that installation. As of now, I have reinstalled the files, and am in the weird XP pre-setup thing that has the blue and the bullets on the left side. The only problem is, I was running SP2, and my XP disc is SP1.
