persianpower Posted March 28, 2005 Report Share Posted March 28, 2005 Hi I'm using OpenOffice, Yahoo mail client and Firefox 1.02. i have xp sp1 (spy free)My problem:I'm trying to include a reference letter to an application email im setting up to send out to potential employers.I have it looking good in a document using Openoffice. However, when i save the document as an HTML webpage and then use yahoo attachments to attach it to my email, the logo letterhead at the top doesn't appear. The logo is a jpeg. The text of the letter appears fine but the image or graphic is missing.What could be causing this?The reference letter looks fine in Openoffice but as soon as its sent via yahoo mail, it loses its jpeg.I want the email to look good and like the document.The letterhead jepg should take the topand the letter text should followanyone know of a solution?thanksp.s.sometimes minor text differences also appear and disappear when i save from .doc to .html Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
scuzzman Posted March 28, 2005 Report Share Posted March 28, 2005 It's because when you save it, it's begin saved as a HTML page, and thus using a tag.A much better approach would be to use a PDF. scuzzman Posted March 28, 2005 Report Share Posted March 28, 2005 Just a little further information on that:When you install the PDF writer, it will be available as a printer.Just go to print as you normally would, but from the Printers menu, select "CutePDF Writer"It will then ask you to supply a filename. -pops- Posted March 28, 2005 Report Share Posted March 28, 2005 Although I've never used the facility, I understand that Open Office has its own PDF generator.From your previous threads, we (I) suggested strongly sending CVs and similar as PDF. Notwithstanding the undesirable modications you are getting at your end, who knows what a mess up the recipients computer will make of it? -pops- Posted March 28, 2005 Report Share Posted March 28, 2005 All reputable commercial concerns have comprehensive antivirus software attached to their email systems nowadays. If they are aware that an attachment is a PDF then, as far I know, this cannot be used for virus propagation. Even if it can, my first point still applies.
