vaca232
I recently decided to reinstall windows on my laptop, an Acer Aspire 2012. My original plan was to install Windows XP Pro on a D: partition of the hard drive. After that was installed and working fine I moved some files from the C drive the desktop and my documents in the new Windows install on the D drive. When I set up windows I forgot to uncheck the box that makes it so other users can see files within the "Local Settings" folder. The new WinXP on the D drive exploded and the computer would not boot up even after using functions in the repair thing from the WinXP CD. I reinstalled windows again on the C drive and now I cannot access files from my user account on the D drive windows...I get an "Access Denied' message. Is there any way to access those files?Basically, Is there a way to access the local settings folder of another copy of Windows on a different partition of the same hard drive when its supposed to be locked? Thanks :)

Chris
If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account that has Administrative rights to have access to the Security tab.
