AlanHo
For the first time I tried to play a DVD film on my new(ish) computer. The picture is fine - but I am not getting any sound. I have tried using Media Player and Real Player - but neither produce any sound - just a perfect picture. I have tried a commercial DVD and a home produced one which both work OK in a friends DVD player and computer so I am sure the discs are OK. I have tried using both my DVD/CD ROM drive and my separate DVD burner - both play pictures but no sound.I have looked at The MS volume control to make sure nothing is muted - I have ensured that Media Player is not muted and the volume sliders are full on - all to no avail.Music CD's play fine - any ideas what the problem might be. -pops-
Alan, your DVD playing software should sort out all of this for you. What DVD playing software are you using? (note I mean proper software, not toy stuff like MWP).
AlanHo
Thanks pops - I have installed Cyberlink Power DVD XP and all is now OK.I naively assumed that Microsoft Media Player or Real Player would both work because they each have a menu facility to play a DVD - but that is clearly not the case.I can now sit back and watch my movie - on the computer - because we do not have a proper DVD player attached to the lounge TV. -pops-
Pleased you are fitted up now. I know how much of a problem it is when people think that all this Bill Gates stuff will do everything and it ends up not doing it properly.BTW, I often watch DVDs on my computer. Keeps me away from the (frequent) bedlam going on elsewhere in the house :)
