That was with the heatsink still attached to the bloody thing!I guess by watching that video i have learnt a two things, one of them is not to touch an AMD chip when it is smoking as it may be 370'c, and the other is to probably buy an Intel P4 system on my next system build (just incase!). djohn Posted April 26, 2003 Report Share Posted April 26, 2003 Been to the AMD site for a read, and they do make a strong point about the importance of correct cooling!I have an elite K7S6A M/board and have set the max. temp. for the CPU at 80 degrees, in theory if it gets that high, then a visible/audible alarm will sound and the board will shut down!They don't recommend a "Normal" running temp. on the site but do say. "We expect our CPU's to run at 60 to 65 degrees in an average system, and if a little cooler, then that is fine, but we do set a Max. temp. recommendation of 90 degrees."My 1800XP+ runs at 52 all day long with only a slight increase to 56, if I run "Mad onion" for twenty to thirty minutes. <_< Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(with your new case ?) :rolleyes: IOSS Aftercooler With the RD7-CA, it will keep the fan(s) on dissipating heat for a specified time once the system is shut down. The gradual cool-down protects the electrical components from any damage that a sudden shutdown may cause after normal use of pc. Overclocking at high speed makes this an even bigger problem after shutting down abruptly. The RD7-CA completely cools down and minimizes the bad effects of heat to the PC.
