scuzzman
Is the modem ethernet compatible? If so, you might want to install a NIC (they cost about $10 USD so its a very cheap upgrade and a much more stable connection). As for the issue at hand, can you please go into Device Manager and remove/uninstall any installed generic USB drivers, then, unplug the USB cable.Restart your computer and, when it's back up and to an idle state, plug the USB cable back in. At this point, the "Add hardware wizard" should come up -- don't click anything.Insert the CD supplied with our modem, then click "Next" on the wizard. Select the option that says "Search for the best driver for my device". When it presents you with options, select the CDROM and only the CDROM. Click "next" and follow through with the wizard. If you should rec'v the error again, go to Start->Find->Files or Folders and enter glausb.sys -- select to search the CD Drive (probably D:). If found, copy the path to the file, and put it in the "Browse" option on the "Add hardware wizard" to instruct the wizard where to find the file.Again, I'll reiterate, Ethernet works much better, expecially on older systems such as Win9x/Me which usually are not running USB1.1/2.0 drivers, thus making them incompatible with most USB-powered broadband modems. If you need assistance with any part of this, please do no hesitate to post back :)
