Loading XP in two languages

I'm currently in China, and need to view documents, programs and websites in both English and Chinese. I have installed Windows XP Professional, English version, in one partition on my hard disk, and loaded the Chinese language script through the regional settings on the operating system. My computer is able to read the Chinese font in most applcations, but is unable to do so with a few, including the online chat program qq that is commonly used here.

I wonder if I could solve the problem by installing the Chinese version of Windows XP into another partition on the same drive (I'd of course like to keep my current English version of XP), with the idea that I could possibly open those problem programs using the Chinese version of XP.

Would this be possible? Would it create any language conflicts? How would I go about booting up the system in this case?

Just as a quick check, I loaded the Chinese XP CD on my DVD drive and ran the "compatibility test". The message I got was "the language of this installation of windows differs from the one you are installing. The option to upgrade will not be available". What would be the implications of this?

Any suggestions or advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

First off, I would use dual-booting 2 different languages as my last option. This would cause a lot of confusion, and you would have to reboot the computer every time you wanted to change languages. Not to mention, all files/settings/documents would be different for each one.

If you do install the Chinese version of Windows XP on the 2nd partition, then it will enable the Windows boot manager, which would prompt you on each reboot which Windows version to start. If you would spend most of your time in Chinese Windows, then you wouldn't need to reboot to often.

Another option would be the use of a third-party product to enable Chinese display for all applications on English Windows, such as NJWIN.
