bikemadgrandad
I've been using AVG7 for some time and am very pleased with it! Yesterday when opening the program an alert box came up saying 'unfinished update has been detected and the computer must be re-started to complete it' I tried re-start with no success. If you do not re-start the main screen for AVG7 appears and an attempt to check for updates results in an alert saying update was un-successful. I tried to un-install and re-install but this did not help matters. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I'm running Win 98se on an Athlon cpu. scuzzman
Have you tried manually checking for updates?

djohn
It sounds very much as though you have a corrupt file that is stopping the update. Updates are coming through nearly every day this past month or so. I suggest you download a fresh version to your desktop then log off line, do a complete un-install of your current version reboot your PC then install from the fresh download.
bikemadgrandad
I think I must have had a senior moment when I posted this because when I checked the FAQ on Grisoft web-site, the answer was staring me in the face. There was a file 'WAIT4SD' which I had to delete. Thanks to all who took the time to think about this for me.
