major problems.....

Recommended Posts

While trying to get rid of a virus called Nail.exe I tried installing this: "sp1aexpress_usa.exe" and it has messed my computer up badly! When I reboot I can only get to a black screen that gives me the option how to start Windows, but the only ones I can choose are safe mode or safe mode with networking. I have dsl and that is how I am doing even this! Lots of my programs don't work in this mode, but I am burning my major stuff to cd just in case I have no option except formatting, which I really really DON'T want to do!!!!!

Please help me find out what went wrong and get this solved so I don't have to.

Please!

:throw:

No chance. It won't even open the Help and Support. When I try it gives me this message: "The procedure entry point RtlIsThreadWithinLoaderCallout could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll."

I even went online and downloaded the ntdll.dll and put it in the system32 folder and no luck.

Thanks for replying!

The easiest way of getting out of this is doing what you suggest yourself. Copy all your important stuff and do a full reformat and a fresh installation. I realise it's a bind but sometimes, especially after an infection and disaster following that, it is by far the best approach.

If you don't do it, even if you get your machine back to a working condition, there will always be that doubt that there is something wrong with it and waiting to pounce on you at any moment.

There are some Googles on the message that you are getting but it seems generally that a reformat is the way to go.

Ensure that you fully reformat the drive before re-installing.
