ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I think there was a way to reinstall Internet Explorer on Win98, but I don't know if this is possible with IE6. Is there an option to reinstall or repair IE from Add/Remove Programs?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If not, can you download IE6-SP1 and install it over your current installation?

HeddaLora
A couple of other things that mess up browsing, which you can check, are:1. Delete all temp files & temporary internet files.2. Check for (and remove any) spyware.3. Sometimes corrupt cookies cause weird browsing problems, but generally only with the web sites associated with the particular cookie(s).
