deuces wild
....too hard. Now they get a well earned break! :D LONDON (AFP) - For more than a century, teams of donkeys have carried tourists down the beach at Blackpool, one of Britain's top tourist destinations. But only now are they to get a compulsory lunch break.ADVERTISEMENTAdblockAs part of a wide-ranging "employment rights" charter for donkeys, announced Wednesday, Blackpool council inspectors are to carry out spot-checks on the beach to ensure the animals get a statutory hour off to munch their hay.The 200 animals working at the coastal resort in northwest England ferry tourists along the beach throughout the summer.Under the new rules, donkeys must only work from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and get Fridays off, as well as the lunch break.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...in_050511120605
Rebel=UK=
why does the news always start of LONDON: r : London England: ??? its about blackpool......
djohn
I think its because ASP is London based, and that is where the report is from, so always starts: ASP London. :unsure:My home town Blackpool, and they do work the Donkey's hard in the season, its a very long season, but they do look after them very well.Just for information purpose, if any of our forum members go to Blackpool for a break and fancy a ride in one of the Landaus, [Horse drawn carriage] don't fall for the old ploy of asking how much to such a place and accepting a figure off the top of the coachman's hat. It will often be "That's £15 or £20 sir".All Landaus are licensed hackney carriages and come under the same control as normal Taxi's. If you look to the front left of the carriage near the drivers seat you will see the licence plate with tariff's on them. Some drivers will drape a blanket over this plate to hide it. :ninja:
