cd problem

Recommended Posts

hai friends,

iam having one cd which was created in our house function. When I put the CD on the drive and open the dat file in windows media player, the whole system gets hanged. Then I have no other option except to reboot the system. Sometimes occassionaly it works. But in 90% of the timing the system gets hanged. Certain game softwares like roadrash, car game are also not working. But generally audio cd's are working. Software cd's are working. So I think there might not be a problem in CD drive. Then where lies the problem?? VGA card?? In my system resolution ?? then what all the possible cases and plz tell me a suitable solution for this.

My system configuration is : windows 98, setting : high color 16 bit 840*600 pixels.

Display : samsung samtron 40Bn on Trident 3D image 9850 AGP (v6.45.5423f.98)

It probably has nothing to do with display, or your CD drive at all.

I'd check first for heat problems... Is your computer full of dust? This causes a lot of heat build-up, which windows 98 is none too fond of. If you find some, and wish to clean it, be careful with the inside components. They are sensitive to static and it can damage anything inside. While your in there, make sure everything is plugged in firmly.

Last but not least, do the CD's play in any other media player? like... Quientessential?
