Nothing has dominated the computer world over the last few days more than espionoge committed with a specially written trojan known as "Hotworld". "Hotword" is not a unique case. Many times in the past, new trojans or modified trojans have been used to "spy" within companies. Most malware protection systems can't provide appropriate protection against these dangers.

Usual protection systems are based on signature scans. That means if a new harmful program appears, a fingerprint of it must be made first. With this fingerprint, the malware protection system is able to detect the new threat. The problem is, that the producer of the protection system must have a sample of the malware first. This is not a problem on wide spread worm attacks, but is a big problem if the attack is limited to a few computers.

For this reason, a-squared Personal uses a new kind of detection technology in addition to the classic signature scan method. Not only is the background guard able to check all started applications in realtime with the integrated signature scan, but it is also able with the help of the new IDS technology, to detect malicious behavior of running applications. With this additional protection a-squared Personal is able to detect modified and specially written spy software safely. It detects Hotworld in all its variants without the need of an update or a special signature.
