Nero Express updating problem

Recommended Posts

I have Nero Express Version 6 installed in my administrator account.

I also have a limited account with admin proviledges.

In the limited account I have the ability to do a manual & automatic updates check by clicking the "Check Now Button" on the Nero Product Center panel display.

In the admin account I cannot do a manual or auto update by clicking the "Check Now Button".

I receive the following message "Connection with the server could not be

established. You have to be connected to the Internet."

So, my question is why can't I update in my admin account.

PC Profile follows:

Windows XP/PRO SP2

Pentium 4 with 1 gb of RAM

80 gb of Hard Disk (C:)

Gateway Computer

Running Verizon DSL Broad Band

The only time I updated Nero, I could see NO advantage, and I started to get problems. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and since then have left well alone. Is there any reason for you to update it? Is there anything that you want to do with Nero that you can't, and that an update would fix? I think that we sometimes update just for the sake of updating.

What are you saying?

The purpose of updating is to ensure that you are up-to-date with all enhancements (upgrades - new logic) and required changes (revisions to existing code) to correct reported problems.

Even though the enhancement and/or fix to a reported problem does not effect you at this time - it will surley impact you later on!

When I updated Nero, I could not see anything extra for the update, and like you I had problems. If an update does not give problems then I apply it, if it does cause trouble it comes back out again. My point about Nero is that I use it to make C.D's, and it has always done it perfectly well, and still does, with the troublesome update removed. What else is Nero used for that the update will allow, that the previous program did not? If it is giving trouble why not revert to your previous version, and carry on happily using it.
