SasArchiver
Hi guys, im new to the forum.i have a friends machine, a compaq presario, i reformatted the hdd and installed w98se. Cos the w98se didnt have the onboard video drivers (intel 82810-dc100) i got the drivers from intels website. Once windows boots, its fine, when u shut it down u get a blinking cursor rather than windows is hutting down. but if u press any key (enter) u get the windows is shutting down screen but the graphics are all to pot, black and orange?? lol ive never saw this before. So in hardware device manager, the motherboard resources icon has a caution mark beside it, what does this mean? Also when i tried to get to the bios by holding del, i get a microsoft keyboard error?? Anyone any ideas? thx in advance sasarchiver

Scarecrow Man
" Also when i tried to get to the bios by holding del, i get a microsoft keyboard error??" -- Don't hold it. Just press it, and press it continuously if once does not work, do not hold it down. You should try the Compaq Software and Drivers page, and see if any of your missing (or cautioned) drivers are there. When formatting and installing a new OS on a computer such as Dell, Compaq, HP, Gateway, etc.. you may find that A LOT of drivers are missing. This is because companies like this are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and supply their own versions of Windows with drivers built in.
