doug Posted June 21, 2005 Report Share Posted June 21, 2005 Having a wonderful time here in Stresa on lake Maggiore. Disaster on first day in that the control unit for Anne's PowerTrike blew up. We are waiting for a replacement from England.Took a boat to Switzerland on Saterday then FAHT'd back to Italy (that is the name of the mountain narroe gauge railway). The trip took us through the gorge of 100 valleys. Scenery absolutely fantastic. Stight hickup at the station in Domodossola in that the trai come3s in as an underground. The only way up was by a lift to a plat5form in the middle and we needed to get to platform 1. After some tooing and froing eventually got across with the help of a policeman who took us to the very end of the platform then down a ramp to cross the tracks. Then a "normal" train back to Stresa - except that the trains do not cater for wheel chairs but we managed the big steps up onto the train with a lot of help.Have spent sometime just visiting the various towns and villages by boat. Having a rest day today. Did take some piccy's yesterday looked at them this morning and I have some wonderful shots of my little finger.Will keep in touch but do need an answer to my thread re- e-mails as I cannot contact family.
