trackrat Posted June 29, 2005 Report Share Posted June 29, 2005 I have just spent 3 hours trying to get into windows.I got to the splash screen with the dots going across and then nothing.I tried F8 and loads of text then nothing.I tried to do a repair install, got to windows setup and eventually i got into the console, it would not fix the MBR and CHKDSK said there were unrecoverable errors.Eventually I got it to boot into windows and on checking device manager it showed there was a fault on a USB peripheral, which I tracked down to the Iomega Floppy/card reader, so I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and then the problems started again.So I rebooted and after 6 minutes it came back on again, so I checked the Iomega web site and found this----- Answer General DescriptionWhen installing the Iomega Floppy USB + 7 in 1 card reader drive, an error may be encountered stating that the operating system is not supported by the software. This error is due to an incompatibility between the drivers that originally shipped with the Floppy drive and Microsoft’s service pack 2 upgrade for Windows XP. Possible ResolutionIomega Floppy USB Drivers are necessary for your drive to be functional in Windows XP. The drivers allow your operating system to recognize your floppy drive. They were very good with customer service - once.I stopped using any of their products a long time ago because of the cost - invariably a much cheaper alternative was available and in the case of their Zip disks, stupidly expensive when a CD would do all a Zip disk could - and more capacity Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
