I have home edition and professonal installed. When I turn on my computer, it always gives me an option of choosing which one I want to use. I think this is causing a problem in my computer. -pops- Posted July 5, 2005 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 Hello and welcome.What I would do is save any files and data that are important to me and then start afresh with a new installation - I assume you have the appropriate disk for the O/S you wish to retain. Setup will search the drive, report what it finds and then give you the options available. You will be asked at the beginning of an install sequence what you want to do. Be careful not to install yet another copy. If you choose new installation, Windows should delete everything that is on the drive and start with a new setup. I have installed the home edition multiple times, but it only installs over the home edition. It does not touch the professonal xp version. I look at my C drive and it has 2 windows files. r4may Posted July 5, 2005 Report Share Posted July 5, 2005 You could reformat the whole disk and then install your chosen O/S but you will loose all data and files that you may want, so back them up first. ( not on the same hard disk)The quickest way to reformat would be to use the Hard Disk maufactures Utlility.You will also have to re install any applications you may have.
