Stopping applications from adding to the 'new' tem

Recommended Posts

Hi. Does anyone here know if there is a way to stop applications from adding their templates to the right-click 'new' menu in Windows XP explorer? Those icons take time to load, and all I really want in there is 'New text document', 'New Folder' and 'New Shortcut'. I can't even imagine why Adobe would think a 'standard' size template would be of any use to their users. There are many other similar offenders.

I have used tweakui many times to delete these unwanted templates but as soon as the program is used it resets them. Is it possible to lock that part of the registry? If so, what locations are they and what do I need to lock them?

Thanks for your help.

Anything of use here ?

Tweaks

Fraid not, and unfortunately the query is almost ungooglable since it involves such generic terms as 'template', 'right-click', 'contextual menu', etc. I've searched a lot of forums and hint-sites on this and sadly I suspect the only solution is to turn off the 'new' feature entirely, which I already know how to do, or put up with the unwanted templates reappearing.

Worth asking though....
