George Posted July 17, 2005 Report Share Posted July 17, 2005 I have a problem with my sound card. It is generally a very old model, and windows 2000 needs a specified driver. I don't remember what my sound card was and I've lost the driver's cd couple of years back. What I know is that Windows XP had no problem with finding what sound card I'm using and installing it later. What should I do to get the sound card running on Wndows 2000? Is there any universal driver? Or is there a program that could find out what kind of card am I using? PS. Or you could just look at the card and try to search the model name on google... (the biggest "bug" (chip) on it has a few numbers and letters).But again a Linux Live CD would help very much.. If you have one around (Ubuntu Live cd, knoppix etc) just boot from it and then open a console and write "lspci" and see the name of the sound card..
