Was installed about 6 months ago. Recently, it has been acting up. Yesterday, I got this error.

"Microsoft Office Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."

So I do that, but there was an error.

"Unable to copy VBAME.DLL to local installation source."

So I un-installed Office 2003. I fixed the VBAME.DLL by running sfc /scannow, and then rebooting and running chkdsk /p

I tried the install again, it worked normally. I rebooted to make sure the install was complete, and opened Word.

Crap........ :unsure:

I've found this but there is only 1 (3) user. (Admin, User, Guest ON).

I installed the program under the User account, with admin privilages.

I'm using MS Office less and less in favour of Open Office. OK, it doesn't have the same versatility as the MS product but for everyday use, it is perfectly adequate and it does have some advantages - like being able to write PDF (which I use a lot).

Sorry, never had any problem with Office 2003. If you can't find a solution here, try at nntp://microsoft.public.office.misc/.

Thanks -pops-, but it's an older couple. He uses Corel more actually. Corel 5...

But I may suggest it and see what they say. But this is one I cant give up on.

As I know MS-Office 2003 makes a hidden directory on the root filesystem (don't know its name) in wich it keeps some modules that are supposed to be installed at first use... And another things ..

Delete that too if you can and maybe a regclean wouldn't hurt..

And be sure that you are installing Office under you user, not administrator...

I ran regscrubxp, and rebooted after uninstall, and rebooted after install. Office was also installed as the user, not admin.

found this, but....

7. Open the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\

8. Right-click Opa11.dat, and then click Properties.

This folder does not exist. In either All Users, or the user with office installed....

P.S. Creating a new user fixed the problem, but will require migration of e-mails, favourites, shortcuts, not to mention tweaks done over the year and the user is not too fond of this idea.
