Repair instalation with raid 5

I am trying to get a CD rom to work after doing a repair install with a raid 5 configured disk array.

Alcohol 120% still showed my virtual drive, but no part of windows; device manager, everest, or alcohol 120.

I've been trying everything, but the bios detects the cd fine. It's currently secondary master. I hear about a repair install causing yor drive letters to get changed but I am working on it. any help is appreciated

BIOS detects the CD-ROM correctly, but Windows has no idea it's there.

I was talking to the person who set up the array, and apparently this cannot be fixed without a format? I have no experience with RAID, other than knowing what it means and does. I have no working experience with it, and to do the repair install, I changed the CD-ROM from secondary master to primary master.

My Computer should show;

A: , Local RAID (C:) , CD-ROM (D:) , Virtual (E:)

but D: is not showing. I turned off the Virtual drive, have tried CD-ROM as First Master, First Slave, Secondary Master and Secondary Slave.

This problem cannot be fixed without formatting and re-installing windows.

Why?

I am just guessing, but...

RAID uses multiple drives and makes windows think it's one. Therefore, windows will take C:, D:, E: and F: and allocate resources to just C:

My CD-ROM was originally D:. which means the drives were probably taking C:, E:, F: and G:. The user crashed his computer by installing Easy CD Creator 5 and was unable to boot.

a repair installation fixed it just fine, but the CD-ROM had now been bumped and the drives were taking C:, D:, E:, F: and leaving the CD-ROM with D: causing a conflict, thus making my drive not appear.

Again, this is just a guess, but apparently a format is the only option.
