XP PRO goes black during installation

Recommended Posts

I have duel opteron processors, the mother board is Tyan tiger for opterons, and I have 4 256 hdd with raid and they're stripped. essentially one 512 drive... My problem is that everytime I try to run a reinstall or repair the computer stops and says it can't because files are missing (I think, it's been a while). So I decided to instead by a new hdd so that I could install windows on it and reinstall all my programs then just clone that new hard drive over to my raid drives so that I'd have a clean system. However when I install windows SP2 on my new drive it freezes on a black screen after the installation is complete and it reboots to enter windows. Windows will open in safe mode on the new hdd, but it goes black everytime I try to run it in normal mode. I thought this might be because of my duel processors so during installation I selected ACPI compatible multiprocessor and it still wouldn't work... unfortunetly I've tried to go back to my bios and disable the new drive in order to boot off of my raid drives but that doesn't work any more... I think I've messed that up pretty good  . SO if any one had suggestions on how I can install windows on my new hdd I'd be greatly thankful. It's a western digital 120 EIDE hdd.

thanks a million
